Who's attending?

You are cordially invited to join us on Friday March 20 as we commemorate the 250th Anniversary of Evacuation Day. We will also take the opportunity to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

Evacuation Day commemorates the end of the eleven-month siege of Boston on March 17, 1776. After fortifying Dorchester Heights with cannon transported from Fort Ticonderoga, General George Washington and the Continental Army gained a commanding position over the city and harbor.  Faced with this significant threat, British General William Howe chose to evacuate his troops and loyalist supporters, sailing for Halifax, Nova Scotia before redeploying to New York, where they would remain until the end of the war.

Our Speaker

Our after-dinner speaker will be Professor Robert J. Allison, Professor of History at Suffolk University. We are indebted to Mike Manning for arranging for Robert to join us.
